2026-04-20
From April 18 to 19, 2026, the 13th Practical Forum on Family Law and the 9th Theoretical and Practical Forum on Family Litigation Procedures were held at Renmin University of China in Beijing. Multiple lawyers from Guangdong Wumei Law Firm were invited to attend the events and engage in in-depth academic discussions on cutting-edge issues. A number of their research papers were selected for the forum proceedings, fully demonstrating the firm’s professional accumulation, theoretical achievements and practical experience in the field of marriage and family law.
The two forums focused on cutting-edge and difficult issues in the legal practice of marriage and family law. They gathered scholars, judicial practitioners and legal elites from universities, courts, procuratorates, notary public institutions and the legal profession nationwide. In-depth discussions were carried out on core topics including the application of the Marriage and Family Chapter and the Succession Chapter of the Civil Code, the improvement of trial mechanisms for family cases, and the optimization of personal safety protection order systems, building a high-quality platform for exchanges on theoretical development and practical improvement of family law governance.
During the forums, multiple professional papers submitted by lawyers of Guangdong Wumei Law Firm were successfully included in the proceedings, and their research results received extensive attention from academic and practical circles.
Attorney Guan Hongmin’s paper Analysis on the Validity of Unilateral Disposal of Marital Joint Equity and the Protection Approaches for Non-Holding Spouses focuses on practical dilemmas in marriage and family cases, including the disposal of marital joint equity, the balance between commercial transactions and marital property rights, and the protection of legitimate rights and interests of non-holding spouses. Combined with current judicial adjudication practices, the paper thoroughly analyzes the legal effect of unilateral equity disposal and explores effective approaches for spousal rights protection, providing theoretical references and practical solutions for resolving similar complex family property disputes.
Attorney Mei Jie’s paper A Synergistic Approach of Two-Way Remedies: Divorce Damage Compensation and Preferential Property Division targets judicial challenges in protecting the rights of innocent parties in divorce litigation. Aiming at the inconsistent application and unclear standards of divorce damage compensation and the principle of preferential treatment for innocent parties in practice, the paper clarifies the functional boundaries and synergistic mechanisms of the two systems through comparative legal research, legal theoretical analysis and practical effect verification. It provides referential schemes with both theoretical depth and practical value for judicial adjudication, facilitates the full implementation of the legislative purpose of the Civil Code in protecting innocent parties and maintaining family stability, and bears important practical and theoretical significance for unifying judicial adjudication standards and strengthening the protection of marriage and family rights.
Attorney Guo Huan’s paper Research on the Division of Online Virtual Property in Divorce Disputes focuses on emerging property disputes in contemporary divorce cases. It conducts research on the nature, ownership identification, division rules and burden of proof difficulties of online virtual property. Keeping pace with the demands of digital-era family legal services, the research enriches the theoretical system of emerging family property rights protection and conforms to the developing trend of current judicial practice.
