On the afternoon of May 25, 2018, the first session of the Wumei Family Law Salon Series, themed From Excellence to Transcendence — Standardized Case Handling Procedures for Marriage and Family Cases, was held at Guangdong Wumei Law Firm.
This salon was delivered by Director Li Xiaofei, Founder of Guangdong Wumei Law Firm, and presided over by Lawyer Huang Xiaoying.
Centering on the theme of how marriage and family lawyers conduct professional case handling, Director Li gave an in-depth sharing with the participants based on her more than 20 years of legal practice experience.
Director Li first introduced the entire case handling procedure and then broke it down step by step.She gave a professional summary and systematic elaboration covering how to demonstrate the professionalism of the law firm, the team and individual lawyers at the first meeting with clients, and how to maintain effective communication with clients throughout case handling. Her sharing also extended from case analysis and stabilizing the client’s emotions, to communicating case progress with the court, as well as filing applications to the court for investigation and evidence collection.
During the lecture, Director Li also shared with the participants Wumei Lawyers’ unique approach to handling family law cases. In such cases, the firm specially arranges a pre-trial counseling session for clients.
Attorney Li explained that parties to family law cases are legally required to appear in court and play a pivotal role in the proceedings. Their demeanor and emotional state inevitably affect the trial process and even the lawyers’ performance. Therefore, conducting pre-trial counseling is extremely important: it helps clients understand the trial procedures in advance, ease nervous emotions, and present the facts of the case smoothly and truthfully during the court hearing.
The salon lasted for nearly two hours. At the end of the lecture, the participants were still immersed in the sharing. During the interactive session, they raised questions to Director Li one after another and expressed the hope that the Wumei Family Law Salon Series would continue to be held on an ongoing basis.
